Hi. I've got a female R. rabida that has an egg sac. The thing is, I don't know how to tell if the sac is fertile. She laid it over a month ago, and I haven't seen any babies, so...? Is there a way to tell from appearance if the sac is fertile?

Hi Vespula,

wait maximally 2 weeks more, and when the sac has not hatched or enhanced, get him and look in it.

Good luck!

Infertile egg sacs are common. I just let the spider carry it until she decides to drop it. Stresses the spider out if you take her egg sac.

Thank you both. It's been about three weeks. But she can hold onto it for a while. She seems plenty happy to do just that. :D
