What is preferred for images, off server web site hosting or placed in the media gallery?

People generally use whatever suits them, although some off-site hosting doesn’t always display well when embedded on Arachnoboards.
In general, I would say it depends on the type of image. If it’s a picture of one of your animals, you can use one of our public galleries or an album of your own (if you are an Arachnosupporter). This option is best for images you plan to reference repeatedly, as you don’t need to create multiple attachments.
If it’s completely unrelated to the subject matter of this forum, it might be better not to use the server’s resources to host it (although you could create an album or use the Random Images gallery).
As a general reminder, the Arachnoboards copyright policy applies to all images, whether uploaded to Arachnoboards or embedded from another site. In general, you should not upload, embed, attach, or link directly to images that are not solely your own. If you want to reference an image you found online, please link to the page on which it is posted (and not hotlink to the image file itself).
