Do ALL male T's have hooks?

I have an A. avic and I am trying to figure out if it is male.
The T is about 3 inches and it has not shed in my care.
I have tried to get a picture of it's underside, but you can't
see anything in the shot.

I know this has been asked before but, do ALL T's make
noise?

Some species don't have hooks though but most do.

And no all Ts don't make noise. Some species can stridulate but they are the only ones that make noise unless you count the faint sound it makes when an urticating T rubs hairs off. Still stridulating is much louder and sounds different.

Not all Avics have spurs. An Avicularia versicolor would be one example.

Somewhere on the web is a page, maybe 2 that keeps a list of the males that don't have the hooks. Sorry I can't remember where I've seen it at to give you the link, but there are plenty of surfers here that might just have it in their favorites and post it, I seem to remember there are several species that are missing them from the information I read there.

Thanks guys:)

If mine is male its not an adult, that takes care of that question?

A list of the males that DO have hooks would be great,
I hope some one has it:)

Yea it's true. Almost any experienced keeper will verify it. It does seem a little funny but they are 2 different sp.

Esmoot, what is the basis for your statement that A. versicolor do not have spurs?

Example 1

Example 2

Just because they are small, doesn't mean that they don't exist. Please know what you are talking about before stating it as fact. It is ok to present some as "In my experience" or "to the best of my knowlege" or "In my opinion"...

You may be right that they have microscopic spurs. I really can't see them in the pics. If they do have them they are of no help when trying to sex the t. They look too small to be functional. Just look at the palps when you need to sex them. By the way I got my info from a few different very experienced keepers and 1 breeder.
