I think if you're looking for a big purple spider you're going to be disappointed. Only the males become bright purple after their final molt into maturity. The females are pretty drab by comparison.

That sounds like a great price for a beautiful spider! I have a Pamphobeteus "purple bloom" sp. Ecuador and he's one of my favorites. Sure, the mature males have the most spectactular colors - but they start showing their colors before that. This was mine after he molted last May. He's molted again since then and is even more colorful - at least in the right light - and he's still got a ways to go.
