I recently caught my 3.5"+ H. lividum up against the glass (a rare thing as you all know), and snapped off a few pictures. I'm not able to identify the sex, but here are the two best shots. I posted them in the sexing gallery a few days ago - - lot's of views, but no responses. I don't just HAVE to know, but I am curious to hear your educated guesses.

So, majority say male? Or is it just too hard to tell from these two photos?

My first thought was male as well..

I believe male also but ventrally it's soo hard..

You'll know 100% when he turns colors though as they are sexually dimorphic and the males turn an ashen grey color while females retain their black and blue.
