When ordering slings, how many of one type do people usually order if they hope to end up with a female? Is 2 usually enough or do people get 3 or 4?
Assuming (perhaps an unwarranted assumption) there is an equal ratio of females and males, your chances of getting at least one female are:
  • buy 1: 50%
  • buy 2: 75%
  • buy 3: 87.5%
  • buy 4: 93.75%
  • buy 5: 96.88%
  • buy 6: 98.44%
  • buy 7: 99.22%
  • buy 8: 99.61%
  • buy 9: 99.8%
  • buy 10: 99.9%

If it's not 50/50, then those numbers will go up or down depending on the actual ratios.

Thanks for the help with numbers. I just purchased 0.0.5 B. Albopilosum "Nicaraguan" from swifts. I'm hoping to get a female out of the bunch. Looks like I may have a 96.8% chance. I like those numbers. :)

And, there is no way to know this with spiders, correct???.Not as we can do with DNA as with vertabrates,i.e,horses, dogs, cats and
cattle?Other than color patterns, locality, size, your saying we can never be sure if we have a true, pure genetic vagans??.
Has there ever been any attempt to do genetic studies on T,s.
I'm thinking probably not.
Genetics works the same for all living things not just vertebrates. It even works for plants. :)
