Preparing pill vials in quantity

Anyone who's ever had to punch air holes in the lids of hundreds of pill vial lids with an ice pick knows what a tedious process it is. My husband took pity on me and created this handy little jig to simplify the process.

This first photo shows the jig itself. Notice the holes drilled in the upper fitting.

This shows the lower assembly loaded with pill vial lids. It holds 7 at a time.

The upper assembly then slides over the lower.

Holes are then drilled following the pre-drilled holes on the upper assembly drill guide.

The result is 7 nicely perforated lids. The holes are much smoother than the punctures made by an ice pick, and it's a whole lot less labor!

To Ernie: he's more into metal, generally speaking, but does occasionally work with wood.

I made a hand-held thing with 7 nails in it that helped some, but I thing I'm going to try to fashion something like what you have.

Has anyone looked at Joy's photo album? Check out some of the cool enclosures she's made, too! There's some serious woodcraft going on that house!
