Hi all,

I have decided to emigrate in Jan/Feb 2024 from the UK. One of my two choices to emigrate is to return to Poland (I lived there for a while in 2017). The other is a place I know they cannot travel as it is out of the EU.

I own a Grammostola Pulchra, Davus Pentaloris and one Neoholothele incei. Only the Davus is a juvenile, but the other two are still spiderlings

Is it possible to post them from the UK to Europe/Poland? Without paperwork or any bureaucracy? I do also have two dwarf scorpions (Chaerilius sp. Sumatra).

I’ve tried searching myself, but came up blank. any relevant info will be appreciated!

P.S: if they cannot be posted, I have some invert friends who would happily take them (especially the Pulchra! Lol)

I'm neither British nor Polish, but as a fellow EU citizen I have to say no to shipping.

Ever since the UK left the EU, any packages sent from the UK to an EU country has to go through customs. This means anything from a few more days to a feek more weeks in transit, which equals dead spiders. So just shipping them to yourself is a no-no.

I'm sure you could sort it out somehow with some kind of import-export deal if you get government involved but those permits can be expensive as all heck from what I've heard.

This is all half speculation on my part so hopefully someone else chimes in with their experiences/knowledge too.

Forget it without papers, as @MariaLewisia mentioned, once UK left the EU everything has to pass through customs, and believe me, every packet is held in them now.

As far as I understand the law, inverts don't come under the same import/export regulations as vertebrates.

Also as long as it's not CITIES listed it's not a problem anyway.

It may be worth a few phone calls.

Correct, but for them/us any package coming it's a commodity subjet to custom fees, so more likely that it's going to be held and examined.

So if this happens, better to have import papers than being acused of trafficking, because here at least, police/custom agents are quite strict about animal welfare.

Maybe he can contact with some Polish breeders/importers to get better info about it.

I don't think outgoing ie
UK to Poland, would be subjected to any import/ vat or paper work restrictions.

Since UK left EU, any packet is subjet to customs duties unless you prove otherwise, ie low value, paid vat etc. and that's for material goods, for live beings I'd check local (poland) laws. I'm not saying that they are subjected to custom fees, but since most packets are held by customs due to that reason, he will have more changes of having it's Ts stopped at customs, and depending on your location, it can be a real nightmare. Right now, Spain has banned most, if not every exotic animal... thankfully there is a group fighting to revert or modify that stupid law, so importing them is quite risky at least here.
