were there any symptoms accompanying the bite? my gf had a bite on the back of her neck, farther up towards the skull though, and she had some really bad reactions. cold chills, cramping, extreme sleepiness, localized pain extending down her back and shoulders. we think it coulda been a spiider bite of some sort, she had been messing around in some dense shrubbery earlier that day. and now i am jacking your thread...so im stopping.

I was uncomfortable the first couple of days - pain more than anything else. I had a cold on top of it, so I may not have been able to tell if there were any other symptoms..

Now I have no other "symptoms" and the area doesn't hurt at all.

I am not so sure it is a L reclusa bite. Unfortantly there are many other things that can cause this. It can range from anything from a skin rash to other insect bites.

In all the recluse bites I have seen none have looked like this. Its often misjudged as well by doctors as they tend to know very little about envenomations.

But I am glad you are doing better.

I'm not sure, either. Since I didn't actually see what bit me, there's no way to know for sure.

My original bite did look similar, but it's been a very long time and I don't have any photos or such of that bite. It also took several days after the spider was sent off to have someone report back to us that the spider we collected was L. reclusa.

I haven't seen a doctor with this bite since it didn't get any worse than what it was.
