If you have a T that over and over again kicks it's hairs off and bears a bald booty then yes that is a sign of stress. Some species will actually kick off their hairs close to a molt or just before as a defense while they are slowing down and getting ready for one and as a defense when they are molting. But if your T is going bald a few months after a fresh molt then in my eyes at least its almost always stress.

That stress can be anything to, living conditions, lack of something, to much of something, to much handling. So keep all that in mind.

Many NW T's sport the bald look on their rears at some time, mostly due to defense or stress. Monitor for other stress signs such as no appetite, always hiding in a corner, constantly keeping their body resting on the ground (moreso than usual), spending more time on the ground than up high (maybe unusual for an avic, depends on the T), basically anything that looks out of the ordinary for your T.

Well if you see that bald area get a lot darker then you know a molt is around the corner, until then she will just be bald. She's not going to die from it. Although when an avic gets bald it normally leans more toward stress.

hmm interesting..her backside is getting a little purple (thats darker than her regular color) and shes eating like a beast so theres no loss of appitite..but then that conflicts with pre-molt doesnt it? oh well...thanks for the input, ill make sure to take extra care, shes due for a cage cleaning anyway.

Could be she just rubbed her butt on something and the hairs rubbed off. That happened with my A. huriana. She was fairly newly moulted and I made the mistake of trying to get her to move by pressing on her butt with my moving stick thingy, and I rubbed off a good deal of her hair. Oops!
