I stopped by Petco the other day and they had a new pink toe in. It was about 2.5". It was missing three legs on it's left side and both pedipalps. It struggled to move when I was reaching in the cage. I felt bad for the little guy. I asked if there was a discount and the guy said he could take off 25%. I passed but still felt bad for the little avic. He was missing half of his appendages. I shouldve got at least 50% off. I wonder how it lost it's limbs.

Possibly a bad molt in transit. You could always go back and speak to the manager. They aren't supposed to sell animals like that. From what I understand they are supposed to adopt them out.

Unless its a spider that can grow its own legs back. It would be different if it was a lizard that lost its toes/arm, a half of snake(jk), a 3 legged dog, a one eared cat, a disheveled parrot...
But if it was a known bad petstore for taking its critters I would haggle hehe

They aren't even supposed to sell lizards that have lost their tails and can grow them back. Trust me, it shouldn't be on the sale floor in that condition.

What does not sell.

Tell him you'll give him that Chris, quite nice of ya to care

I bought an OBT upon Hobby re-entry, missing 3 legs - they all grew back in next Molt, months later. Have a good 1 - Jason

Yeah I'm gonna talk to the manager depending on who it is when I go in. When they had a MM, I told one one of the managers what it was and informed him about it and he said they don't sell them as males or females, they sell them as tarantulas. So if it's that guy, I don't know how it will go. But a couple of the employees and one of the reptile specialists know me and my girlfriend as the "ones with 11 tarantulas." The ones I have talked to are nice and take my advice and they let me just do whatever with the tarantulas when I'm in there. And I've recently got them to switch from keeping the tarantulas on wood chips. They are all on coco fiber now :D So I'll just see how it goes next time I stop in.

I'd offer 60% of the asking price due to the limb loss and It will most likely moult out fine after a couple of moults :)

You'd think it's That simple - it is Not

Discounts are ONLY, in increments of 10, 15, 25, 50, 75% how they do it.

I worked there between 1999-2002 and Fought tooth & nail :D to improve & make changes, to "Corperate Policies" regarding the Ordering, Displaying, Maintaining, & Sales of Reptiles & Invertebrates.

Helped Santa Rosa Ca. store become Nominated Top 5 Store in the Company.

They have taken some suggestions, and in Cali, expanded from Cal Zoo's distributing purchases. However, they are still a Corperation , who's above ALL goal, is making Profits 1st, and all else after. If and when they ever are to Evolve business practices - They'll improve -or- just reduce to selling Kitty & Dogfood, etc.

My own County's Last Mom-N-Pop shop, of 30+ Years.....just announced this week - that they are closing Doors :(

GL w/ the 11 T's Chris, & to you - I've enjoyed your Posts - Jason J. Brown ;)

They are selling it for 19.99. I'd offer no more than 50% because it's missing 50% of it's limbs lol. Half the spider, half the price. I'm gonna do some talking and see if I can't get it for free.

19.99 isn't bad for a petstore price btw, here they are 30 or sometimes 70$ if you go out to New-Brunswick...

good luck getting one cheaper :)

Yeah, but Petco gets in WC most of the time if not all. I got my avic for $30 at a family owned petstore which I thought was high, but it was there for 6 months and I finally got it. The original price was 34.95.
