Note the similarities "south" (toward the foot) of the patella in my above pic. Ignore the yellow- she's not P. ornata. The pic just came out that way.eight

By the way. . . I'm pretty upset about people getting so ripped off with the "Pokie Propaganda" that's been going on.
Someone who'd do such a thing to somebody needs to be removed from our hobby. . . please do your part if you've been a victim and let others know.

To help if possible, here's a link to Pocock's original description of P. miranda (and P. metallica, etc.). Before you drop that kind of dough, study it- know what you expect to get. If it ain't it, call that vendor out.
I don't remember who scanned the journal (someone on a scorpion site). If you want me to e-mail the .pdf to you, e-mail me at :
garrickodell@juno.com

Anyway, here's the link (you need Adobe AcrobatReader).
Once you download it, open it in Adobe and scroll down to page 36 and begin reading about these species:

pocock's poecilotheria

Note how the big defining visual feature of P. miranda in Pocock's original description is the white patella (among the other differences from P. rufilata).

Garrick,

I believe that it's also in the Theraphosid_Description_Papers group on yahoo as well as a color pictoral key of the ventral patterns of all pokies. If Soren was on here I would ask if I could post it, but he's not. Tell him to sign up already Lelle :)

Sorry to hear what happened to you Mike. We know exactly how you feel. We too had a bad experience with the same person. Hopefully you will get your money back.

Take care and hope to visit ya again soon.

Wow, how did I remain ignorant that this group existed? Just when I've been getting an itch to bone up on my own taxonomic skills, it gets pointed out to me; thanks Scott.

As for Soren, yes, he would be a welcome addition to the board - makes most of even the most knowledgeable on this board look very newbish.

I too had no idea about that group!
Thanks, Scott!
