10 of these just came in the mail, again from Europe. I'll keep them far away from the rest of my collection just in case the others already have nematodes or whatever killed my Irminia yesterday. Pics coming in a bit.

Haha yeah 10 may seem like a lot but I was thinking of putting them in a communal set-up once they reach the 2" mark. It should make a great display tank. Pokies are fast growers, right?

These guys are indeed sac mates. A big tank with plants and five or six 6-7" adult females would look AWESOME! :D

Nice! Pokeys are so cool, they're camouflaged from birth!

I think your best chances for a successful communal setup would be to go ahead and put them together now and keep them together. There are several people here uncluding Talkenlate04 who have pulled off successful pokey communities. Search out their threads for more.

I was thinking of growing them to a decent, less vulnerable (2") size first. Do you think it will work?

No the whole point of a communal setup is to start them out together. If you raise them up thinking that they own the territory around them and then throw them all together in one tank at the same time, than you are in for some big trouble. You should put all 10 in a communal now. It would be the best time. If you waited till the 2" mark you would have casualties left and right I would assume.

Oh ok, thanks for the warning. But putting them together now would make it more difficult for every individual to eat as much as I want them to. I guess I'll keep them solitary then.

you can always put them together and use forceps to hand feed each little sling indavidualy that way there all still eating as much you want them to so to say

ive never had a problem with pokies takeing food from forceps they all seem to love crickets ;)

yeah, if you want to be successful put them together in close quarters with one another so that they can run into each other and recognize that they are in a colony.

Just make sure to throw in tons of food and they should eat well, its what i've been doing with my Centruroides hentzi and havent had casualties. I know theyre scorpians but same basic idea I think. I have a group of 6 and a group of 5 im going to combine soon.

Talkenlate has communal videos on youtube too, they look really cool.

Also, P. regalis will hit the 2in. mark in almost a heartbeat its that fast, so I wouldnt worry about size issue yet.

Anyone care to sex these two P. regalis? I already know, or think I know, their sexes, but I'd like someone to confirm. Thanks in advance.
