Plugged up burrow.

Hi folks,

My E. Campestratus has just dug himself a burrow. He used the half plant pot hide as a starting point and has now completely sealed himself up inside it. I am new to the hobby and was wondering if this is normal. I am worried because he is not coming out to eat or drink as far as I can tell (the substrate seal on the burrow entrance is undisturbed since he built it a few days ago).

Am I doing something wrong?

Should I dig him up to check on him?

Should I wait it out?

Could it be a molt?

Any advice would be fantastic.

Could definitely be a molt. He'll come out when he is ready :)

Thanks Nicole, I hope you're right. I thought he was going for a molt a few weeks back because he stopped eating, started webbing and had a bald spot, but it turned out that I was wrong because he started eating again.

Being new to the hobby is stressful :)

Wish I could say it gets easier but I've had tarantulas for about 15 years now and I still get stressed over molts {D
