Plant lighting for terrarium

I bought this buld at home depot today for my 12x12x18 terrarium, would this be good for the live plants i have in my tropical set up?

Unless it isn't. Tropical can mean anything from barren desert to deep shade. It's the industry standard grow light. Probably fry orchids and some mosses.

For an orchid, what type of light should i use?

That is an incandescent bulb, that will produce too much heat and cook that little tank. Your best bet would be an LED bulb or fixture, something around 6500K. Efficient lighting without the excessive heat.
