the cobalt just moulted out within the past week, and has refused to come out since then. she's webbed over her pot and is currently huddling in the corner.

yes, the pulchra is my pride and joy. i was so happy when she moulted last week and regained her velvety black sheen. she may be 5" now.

the auro is a complete pig. it would eat every day if i let it. i've let it eat a little more recently (a couple roaches a week) because it's been climbing the walls looking for food (and a couple others decided they weren't hungry this week). however, s/he is going back on a diet until the next moult.

Nice pix and nice collection. I see we have a few pieces in common :)

The flowerpot in the lividums tank surprises me a bit. How deep is the substrate in that tank?

the substrate is several inches deep.

the reason she's in the pot is because her burrow collapsed on her about a month or two ago, and she didn't bother to make a new one. after sitting in the ditch that was once a burrow (and sitting there for a couple weeks), she finally moved back into her flowerpot. i thought she had made a new burrow using the flowerpot as the opening, but she didn't. she's now hidden in the back. i want to move her into a larger kritter keeper and set-up a 50 ml conical vial as a sturdy "burrow," but haven't gotten the chance yet.

that, and she's a grumpy ***** who will flip into a threat position if anyone tries to touch her. :)

Not very surprising ;)
If given enough substrate to burrow in she'll more likely retreat though instead of defend.

yeah, she used to be very timid. a moult ago, she started standing her ground and burrowing. after this moult, she's full-blown lividum.

i may try to corral her and bury the vial for her, since she doesn't need a bigger kritter keeper for anouther moult. but i wanted to wait until she hardened up from her moult, which was last week.

new pictures of my h. lividum, coomassi. taken while relocating her to a larger kritter keeper. she's probably a hair over 3" now.

my little 3.25" female a. avic "schmoo" was visable long enough today to get a couple good shots. i think she's in a very long premoult (hasn't eaten since i got her, which was about a month ago).

Your pulchra is stunning!!!

How old is she? I bought one as a sling a year ago or so, and it never molts. Do they really grow that slowly?

i got her as a <1" sling back in spring of 2003. she's probably about 5" now. she was always a slow grower. i think she's moulted twice in the past 2-3 years... and she always gains amazing length with every moult.

it's a long wait, but it's definitely worth it.
