Picky Roaches!

Hi, I have some hissing roaches, false death heads, and lobsters. The false death heads and lobsters are pigs, but the hissers are more selective. I feed them a mixed salad(remove most of the cheese) and grated carrots. Occational ferret food, and crushed dog food. And sometimes baby food when the lizards don't eat. What does everyone use for food? I think I'm missing something. What kinds of fruits & veggies should I try? I just want them to be healthy. Also I have seven hissers, one male and six females. A couple are gravid, but will the male gget worn out or something? I have the hissers in with the lobsters and the false death heads by themselves, both in 10gal. tanks. Also, whats a good strategy for rearing them? How do you keep & feed them? Asking because sometimes the hissers are very picky, they just walk over the ferret food like its nothing and everything else goes crazy for some, like they are addicted. Same with other veggies like tomatoes, carrots, lettuce.
Thanks a lot,
Steve

I don't know about hissers but my orange heads swarm their food dish when I feed zoomed leopard gecko food. Its dried flies that comes in what looks like a plastic spice shaker and its fortified with vitamins, minerals and aminos. On one of the roach groups I go to some of the people there recommend adding some olive oil to their hissers(and other roaches) food which they claim increases health and breeding.

I have an extensive list of roach realted links in my favorites folder so I thought I would provide some. I hope they help. Good luck!

i had the same set up but the oposite problem

my lobsters and hissers were housed together and they always ate.. lettuce, dry cat food, and a blend of apple sauce + dry cat food (make sure theres enough ventilation so a mold doesnt grow like crazy

i only had a problem feeding my death heads... as i tried to give them away to a friend, i discovered i had dozens of nymphs hidding under the dirt

i dont know, maybe its a simple humidity/temp question? but i never had a problem feeding my hissers

I feed all my cockroaches, including hissers, unmedicated dry chicken feed (mash). Less messy, good nutrition and they love it.
