I've noticed phorid flies in my roach bins as well as maggots, I found a dead roach with maggots all over it, could it be that the roach had died for some other reason and then the maggots ate it, or did the maggots kill it? Will they kill my whole colony? Any help is appreciated thanks!

Phorid flies are horid!

Either of those options are possible so it's important to break the breeding cycle. There are some effective sticky fly traps you can use. There is one that you stick in pots, shaped like a butterfly that is sticky on both sides, stick it on the walls of the roach bin to catch the flies. Roaches don't usually climb so they won't get stuck.

Clean your bins and keep maintenance up. Hang fly strips if the infestation is bad enough. Phorid flies are the worst pest I've experienced in roach bins but they didn't attack healthy roaches or arachnids.

Try this Phorid flies killed a few of my Ts and my 1000+ roach colony . I had to start over with 300 dubia or so.

I've heard that dermestid beetles could help in lessening the fly populations, is that true? I already have those beetles as a separate colony

Maggots eat dead flesh generally speaking

I agree with everyone who said to clean the bins. Thats the first part.

Change everything.

Check all the roaches for signs of larva.

Wash the bin.

Make sure you clean food you put in there regularly.

Have indoor plants?

Got it, is there any recommendations when checking the roaches for larva, other then visibly seeing maggots?
