Hello!

On 6/15 a Black Widow spider hitched a ride home with me in a box of grapes from a local grocery store. Needless to say, kids were shocked as they were happily eating grapes and one of them started moving. Being keepers of all sorts of things, we decided to set her up in our vacant Praying Mantis enclosure and keep her as our pet. Her name is Mavis. :)

In the 3.5 weeks we've had her, she is now making her 3 egg sac. She laid her first and I removed it right away, assuming it was likely fertile. She then whipped up her second one the next week. I removed that one right away in case there was any chance that one was fertile. And now less than a week later she is finishing up her third. Is this normal??? Should I leave the sac with her until she naturally grows tired of it? Is it safe to assume it's not fertile.

This is my first true spider pet so I'm a little perplexed by this production cadence.

Definitely fertile. You’ll probably get at least 5 more.

Remove it before it hatches otherwise you’ll have babies everywhere.

Done. Added it to her little growing collection and put them in the freezer.
