It's a little ways away, but I'm already considering what will be my second T. I've been leaning toward the A.Purpurea, since I thought an aboreal would be a good idea to counteract what I have. However, people don't usually mention the Purpurea since the versicolor hogs the spotlight. Is anyone keeping/has kept a Purpurea. Thoughts on them, opinions?

Hi Paul,
I was going to respond to your PM but since you got this question up so fast I'll answer here :D
I have never had the pleasure of owning one of these lovely avics yet myself - I hope to get one or two in the future. I have heard that they can be a bit more difficult than your average avic. Here are a couple of care sheet sites that might help with your decision.

Good luck - not so much with the t's but with learning to control the addiction enough that you have money left for food :D :D

From what I've read A. purpurea seems to be more fragile than the versicolor or avic avic. I've never encountered them here in Holland, don't know if they are a common species in America

Rookie,
I have heard the same thing about A purpurea......
I have held off, since I don't think I am ready for one yet.
I don't want to pay that much money, for something that is that hard to raise!
Since the A versis can be a bit difficult as well, and are probably not as spendy, I would recommend one of those first. I am raising 5 right now, they can be a challenge, but are oh so beautiful as well!
