These were the first jumping spiders I found out about and made me fall in love with them 😍
I'm so envious!

These are incredible photos! I hope I can see one of the amazing little spiders in person someday.

It's fascinating isn't it these photos are from last spring I am running out of photos now but rest assured there will be much more next spring. *(sping in Australia is October November etc)*

Do they do this only during mating, or as a "get outta here" display as well?

they mainly do it to impress the female but if the female waves her butt back at him then he knows she has already mated and is looking for dinner if you know what I mean so yes the dance is just to impress a female nothing else.

That's really interesting! They're fascinating little critters. Many of the spiders in your photos have their butts in the air, and I was wondering if they were just showing off or if they had seen you and were telling you to go away, lol.

(I found this forum because a (apparent) P. johnsoni moved into my kitchen window and made himself at home a few days ago, and in one day I've learned more about jumping spiders than I ever learned in my whole life...)

Thank you for the invitation, but I think I'll just admire your awesome photos. I'm still not the biggest fan of critters with more than 4 legs...lol

ok well, let me know if you come down this way and I can show you around as long as you are with me you're fine nothing in Australia will hurt you while you are with me. also, there will be no more photos until spring in Australia so October November because that's when the males molt into adults and start dancing at the moment they are just little babies.

The wildlife in Australia is amazing. Peacock spider absolutely astound me. I even saw some pictures were there abdomen had feather like extensions(Maratus sceletus). A really really beautiful spider genus. There are also numerous mygalomorphs that are amazing as well. A true spidertropolus. Excellent photography.
