This one is about a 3" or a little bigger eating a roach!

I'm looking to start an appreciation thread on the new species for the U.S. hobby that came in as spiderlings March'06 called:

"Santo Domingo Goliath" Pamphobeteus sp.

A few indivduals bought some of the spiderlings back then. Post your observations of their behavior and pictures and any info that you hear about them here.

I've seen a photo of an adult female. I do not yet have permission to show the author's photo, but it is a stocky, species with large carapace, big, thick legs. Very impressive. Kinda looks like a G. pulchra in color with short, grayish adominal hairs, but it's a Pamphobeteus sp. Santo Domingo is in Ecuador on the western side of the Andes mountains.

Me too! Seems as though they are still hard to come by and very pricey.
Maybe as they become more available I will actually be able to afford a female without having to sell my plasma ;)

I'd call him Purple Nurple or maybe Purple People Eater. I take it that's a male?
