I'd just like to start a timeline thread. I own two specimens, one named "Fire Tree" and one named "Mango". I'm guessing Mango is a male as it molted first on 9/9/16. I recovered both at 1.5".

The molt was too mangled for me to sex it.

Here are my specimens (probable female though) from the same dealer:

My other Pamphobeteus sp. "Santo Domingo Goliath", named Fire Tree, molted this morning. I'll take measurements once it flips over:

The molt was too mangled again to sex it *sigh*.

I love the Pamphobeteus coloration when they are young. I wish it remained into adulthood at least in some species. Cool spiders.

I find it interesting that the Christmas tree pattern is so prominent in soooooooooo many different species as slings. I wonder why that is and why it's so prominent in tarantula slings from all over

In the Pamphobeteus sp Goliath, the pattern stays, just not the colors. But it's a bit better than nothing hha.

Fire Tree after it's last molt 10/15/16:
Just to clarify on my post above... Mango is one molt ahead of Fire Tree. Fire Tree did not molt on 10/15/16, sorry if I confused anyone. Neither have molted since my last post though both are very fat.

@Phormic28 Any update on your little ones?

They both molted within 2 days of eachother. Fire Tree (which I presume to be female) is a good .5"-.75" smaller than Mango (which I presume to be male). I haven't gotten a good molt from either of them as of yet. What's with these guys and mangled molts?

The Christmas tree pattern is already starting to fade on both of them. Their post-molt carapace coloring looks cool in pics, but it's stunning in person. Fire Tree is a good 3", and Mango is 3.5"-3.75". Can't wait for these guys to grow into beasts!

Both of them ate their first meals after molting today. Fire Tree's carapace patterning is fading while Mango's carapace patterning is vivid. Fire Tree's Christmas tree pattern on her(?) abdomen is much more vivid than Mango's.

Fire Tree has molted and is a confirmed female!

Molted skin clocks in at 3":

She's still hardening up, but from what I saw, she gained a good deal of girth and is at least 3.5". I expect Mango to molt sometime soon as well.

She hits right around 3.5" in this somewhat relaxed position. However, DLS I would expect to be close to 4".
