I'm shipping out my mm p.murinus on monday, anybody have any personal experience packing these and can give me some tips :?

Tips : never give the choice to the spider to go where it want to go, because it can be LONG. Im not saying to be rude with her, just dont let her control the situation
Block the entrance of its retreat, because the spider will usually do eveyrthing it can to get back in it.
Stay calm, they're not monster's ... Forget all these newbies who can only talk about about the defensive behavior when it comes to Pterinochilus species ... When the spider realise they are dealing with someone they know what he's doing, they get in mode : heum ... why fight against it (most of the time at least, of course some will just do what they want)
You can remove your T shirt if you want to ... as you can see im usually not having T shirt in my video, because i've had to many time a tarantula running up my arm and hiding in my T shirt, thats not a cool situation. The situation is'nt better if it get ON your T shirt, you just have no idea where it is then ...
Remove every object that could be botering you in its tank : decoration, web, watever, remove everything you can. If you can remove its hide, do it.
You can also guide the spider out of its terrarium, theres a big change in their behavior in and out their environnement.

yes, they're old and I hate the enclosure I was offering to my Ts, and untill then my technique are better, I should make new one ... and jesus I was skinny !But oh well its helpfull so never mind

Another alternative which is similar to what Baboon was doing but goes one step further is to use a 20 oz plastic bottle from soda. Cut the bottom off and also poke some air holes into the bottle as well. Then line the upper portion of the bottle with paper towels but leave a "cave" in the middle. Then wrangle the tarantula into this bottle so that it enters the cave in the paper towel. Pack the bottom portion of the bottle with some additional paper towel and then slide the bottom back onto the bottle. Tape the bottom on and you are ready fro shipping.

I agree those videos are very good examples of someone who is at ease with a spider not in it's enclosure, and I feel that that is most of the issue.
I use a modified technique to Baboon's
I have used a small mailer tube with removable plastic caps at both ends.
I noticed the spicers were very cooperative to climb into a darker space than one that was clear.
I now use a clear tube (with caps on both ends) However I made a dark cover for it.
When I want the spider to go into this tube the cover is on.
once inside the tube I then remove the covering.
For two reasons:
- to make the tube less appealing
- so I can see which way the spider in oriented
I find when you open both ends you can "escort" the spider out from the end the spider has its rear toward and block that exit at the same time.the spider is then more than obliged to leave and move on to the "other" place.
BUT that advice given.. ( for what it's worth )

i will bag some spiders that i feel deserve extra respect. it is a trick european bug people have been using for quite some time.
basically you can bell the spider with the top of the soda bottle and then as an intermediate step guide the spider from the soda bottle bell to a plastic bag. as far as the bag goes, the thinner the thickness of teh bag material the easier it is to manipulate the spider... but the less the protection the bag gives. once you have the spider inthe bag you evacuate as much air as possible from it and eventually end up with what is essentially a "shrink wrapped" spider. tie the plastic bag off to completely restrict the spider's movement and then pack it in a normal good papertowel chamber arrangement.
if i get bored/ambitious i will pack up my H. maculata and have my room mate film me doing it and show what i mean.
i send "fierce" spiders and delicate spiders this way. the engergy absorbtion opportunities presented are unequalled in any other scheme i have seen. also, the management of the spider this scheme gives is unequalled. when properly executed the spider is really never at large... you control it's movements the entire time
all in all, a very useful trick!
p.s. to the OP post sooner... if you had to pack a spider that day that doesn't really leave that much time to hear a good fullness of answers =P
