My P. ornata started molting sometime before noon today and it is now 8p.m. and it has not moved... The area it has chosen to molt is a very small area and does not give it much room to move and I fear I may lose it. It has still got to the best of my knowledge no legs out of its old molt and seems to be getting very weak. It's only right around 1-3/4"... I almost lost my last one do to this exact problem, but it made it out with a couple messed up legs and I fear that I may lose this one. Please give me some pointers as to what to do. I will hopefully get a pic up momentarily

So you think I should rip apart the corner? What if I pulled the piece of bark away from the corner to maybe allow more room?

I totally agree, if you plan on keeping lots of spiders, or even just expensive sp.. its best to find a pattern for setup that eliminates those possible tightmolt locations (as much as possible).

I'm sorry to say if its really been that long, for something so small, I wouldn't give it much odds. If I were you, I'd pull the lid off, pull the bark back, and get a better look at it.

I cant really make out from those pictures, but I see that piece of cork
I would carefuly move a little ( just couple inches)
and see if that will give her more room
the problem with this situation, is time the more time goes by while she stuck the less chances she will get out
she start harden up while still in old molt, that is the end of it

well i just pulled EVERYTHING out of her enclosure... When I started to take out all of the moss she slid deeper into her hole, so now its all out... She didn't get jerked around really, but IDK her legs are all still stuck :( Is there anything else I can do?

To give us an idea of her hardness.. what color does SHE look in comparison to the skin? Is she still lighter colored, and kinda moist? Or do they look the same?

She is starting to turn colors or has been for awhile... I found her molting at around noon, she was probably doing it for awhile before that. I posted up some pictures under my previous post so maybe you can see the situation

well reading a bit more... that spider is only 1,75" in size, molting time should with in 15-30 minutes
if she stuck in the molt since noon and now almost 10 PM,
so that would be for 10 hrs, I dont think there is anything you can do
just wait and see

Oh, now seen last picture, Am sorry I cant be very optimistic here..

It sounds like she's already starting to harden... You may need to attempt to excise her yourself.. Though at this point, it's not likely to do much good... really sorry to hear about this :(

I completely understand. It always sucks when you lose a little one this way. :(

Well I guess there's not much else I can do... I'll wait until morning and let you all know how things go. I really appreciate the advice everyone it helped out greatly

Well, I just can't bring myself to give up... I just put her in an ICU upside down and it's fairly moist and now in a dark place. The good news is as soon as I placed her into it she started moving again. I still have hope for this little one :D Hopefully tarantula god is not calling this little one up just yet! I will let you all know in the morning what happens. Again, VERY appreciative of all that you have done and either way am very happy that I have friends out there

Good luck with your T; it can be so hard to lose them, even if they are just "spiders" to everyone else. Maybe goddess Arachne will help you out with this one. :]
