My eggplant-sized female P. imperator popped yesterday. She has at least 40 scorplings that I can count. There are definitely more because I can't count the ones clinging to her underside!! In fact, it's difficult to see that there's a 7-inch massive female under all of those succulent scorplings  Pardon the debri on some of the scorplings; I accidentally dropped a small pile of coco fiber on her back..

Enjoy three more of my pics. Let me know what you think!

Cheers - Jeff

Great photos! With my junk camera it would have looked like a white blob.

Do you know how long it took for her to give birth to all her babies? I noticed mine giving birth at 1PM today and she had 4 babies, until know I have only counted 8 scorplings but im not sure if she is done birthing or not. How can I tell?

Mine had 15-17 babies about a month ago, of which only 6 made it to 2i at which time I separated them from mom. Bad idea, cuz the rest died too. One from drowing in the water cap and the rest died mysteriously. I am not sure if I, personally, did something wrong but it is what it is. I have a male so I may attempt to breed them again at the start of summer. Congrats on yours, though. They look good!

Im sry to hear about your scorplings. Im thinking about leaving mine with the mother a bit past 2i but Ill have to wait and see how that goes. Btw, I just peaked in he cage and she looks like she is up to 11 or 12!

It took her about 14 hours to give birth to 47 plump scorplingsI still can't believe the high number of young she produced. I leave the babies and mother together until 3i. At that time I remove mom and keep just the babies together. Keep them moist [not wet], warm and well-fed and you will have more scorps than you can handle. The same female gave birth a year ago and I didn't lose one! In fact, 16 of the 30 that were born are still living together in a 20-gallon long (the rest were sold). Despite their abundant availability, they're still one of my favorite scorpions... right behind A. australis and B. jacksoni.
