I thought I didn't have any phobic responses-reactions to speak of and what I did have went away when I observed hill tribe kids regarding spiders as toys. A common game: Make a circle about a meter wide and the kids station themselves around it. Then they would drop a big huntsman in the middle of the circle. When it went zoom the kid in that direction had to deftly grab it without harm and drop it back in the middle. This is where my other learned to be so deft at spider snatching. Spare 'toys' got parked on the kids heads and tangled in their hair.
