I was looking at my new gecko (Geico) today, and i notice he has a cut on him! I do not know what happened to cause There is nothing sharp in the setup, just grapevine and fake plants and a piece of cork bark?! I have some reptile antiseptic that i bought as a 'just in case' kinda thing, and i dabbed it on the cut and he went crazy, but calmed down after awhile. I also found a little scrape on his back leg?

I havn't been handling them in fear of them jumping and hurting themselves, and now they are getting hurt anyway :?. I wish i could just figure out what caused the issue so i can correct it. Should i take him to the vet to get looked at? Or is this not serious enough? Heres some pics....

Any advice would be appreciated :(

I decided not to mess around, found a local reptile vet with a good reputation so i am taking him in tommorrow to get checked out.

Is he housed alone? Those are weird injuries! I guess he could have spazzed out and caught himself on something. Do your fake plants have wires in them?

I am sure he'll be fine, but always better safe than sorry! Wishing him a speedy recovery.

the one on the leg kind of look like a burn
I agree, however, there is no heat source, or even light near the cage. I keep the room at 75, and the blinds on the windows are open during the day to let light in, closed at night. So couldn't be a burn, but i was thinking, possible abrasion against the screen?

I went through the cage and looked over everything. Found a little cranny in the wood piece that he may have tried to crawl through, so i blocked it off. Couldn't really find anything in the cage that jumped out and got my attention though?? Going to go over it again when i get off work. This is kinda bizarre :?

Yep he is housed alone. I was thinking about the fake plants with the wires also, but i was very careful to go over everything and make sure there was no wires protruding out or anything. As a safe measure i am probably just gonna strip the cage decor that has wires in the stems out tommorrow just to be safe. I just dont get it :(

Looks like Geico is going to be ok now. I suspect the fake plants that i bought at walmart as the culprit behind this. I took them all out yesterday, and completely redid the enclosure. I also have been applying antiseptic to the wounds and they look better than they did. I was told not to take to the vet just yet, but if the wounds get raised or start looking different than they do now i am going to. I might still make an appointment just in case though.

I replaced the old plants with silk plants from petco. Man those are expensive!

That sucks that he got hurt :( I hate to think how much money you spent on fake silk plants from petco  At least with those plants in there now you know he can't hurt himself on them :D
