so I'm buying 2 A.versicolor slings today and I'm really pumped. been arranging things around the shelf and saw my first tarantula, MM G.rosea moving substrate around a lot and i thought it was funny. Now he flipped on his back and is trying really hard to molt =\. I guess its his time to pass. I received him xmas of 05 and he matured February of 06 so I've kinda expected this for a while.

it really sucks to watch him try so hard.

Sorry to hear that...who knows, maybe he'll make it through the molt - it's happened before. Keep us updated.

my first T in a long time happened to be a MM a. avicularia and he had an ultimate molt!! He didn't last, but as a new keeper everyone said that's a rariety. I felt honored :)

hm i left to go pick up my versis and i came back and he flipped back over. his carapace is slightly pulled back like he just started to molt and stopped. if he were to die would he of flipped back over? i also just fed him sunday and he ate so the molting was pretty surprising

just hanging out with a little gap in his carapace. im not sure where its gonna go from here. when he first flipped back over he was in a stance like he just molted. now he looks normal aside from the gap. ill keep everyone posted.

edit: thanks for the versis sean!

I took a MM G.rosea off somebody's hands a couple years ago. He was missing a leg. I'm dreading the day he passes; he's a nice little guy.

This thread was interesting.

I think I may have jumped to conclusions haha. Now I feel like he is gonna live for a while. I will clean out his enclosure and set him up with some fresh substrate and better hide to show my appreciation haha. I cant tell if its a sperm web I thought they usually roll it back up and move it to the side when they are done. He looks perfectly normal now I feel like an idiot for assuming like that but I glad he's ok. He's how I got into this hobby!

glad to see he is ok. he is already pretty old, if he makes it to 4 years that would be ridiculous! I have 2 MM's on my hands right now, an A. versicolor (the daddy of your slings) and a L. parahybana. I doubt either will even make it to 2 yrs past their ultimate molts :(
