A mix of 3 parts Coco Fibre to 1 part topsoil makes for a good, relatively light weight, substrate. I sift the topsoil through a 1/4" screen and then mix thoroughly...
This mix ratio binds the Coco Fibre better for burrowing and does not compact to terribly. It also is a good mix for use in a bioactive setting, Though you will still need to place rich soil in plant locations, but it provides pathways for the root systems.
