OBT escaped in public!!!

I whent to go change the sub of the OBT. He had been on woodchips for about a week and I was waiting intill sunday to put him on some nice, soft eco earth because we don't usualy have alot of customers on sundays. Well, I lifted up his log and coaxed him out of his web. Then I tryed to coax him into a large deli cup. He was reared back so far he was on his back. Then he decided to be a rebel and bolt across the reptile room. He was seriously about an inch and a half from going behind a shelve thats bolted to the wall. I traped him in the deli cup right as a woman walked in with her 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son. The mom then tryed to reach for something on the shelve and I let out an epic "Whatever you do, do not kick that deli cup!"

But anyway, after a wile I got him back in his enclosure, but not without many strikeing atempts.

I'm confused about the part when you put the tarantula on eco-earth. Working in a petstore, I'm sure you meant to say aquarium gravel. What color is its watersponge?!

When I first got my T's I was advised to use and sold English crushed walnuts as a substrate, the pet store owner also recommended a heat pad, underneath the substrate, a water dish with moss so the T wouldn't drown and sub-dividing the tank for 2 t's would also be okay.
Luckily I read up before the T's arrived and ended up taking everything back.

When I got my first spider I was reading a half a year before I got my smithi. What substrate, enclosure..... And I never listened to pet store clerks.

At least they have you to make sure all their Ts are kept well. Someone who really cares and actually has a bit of knowledge about them.
