Ok so I found this L variolus in northern louisiana but I can not find any research that says that L variolus is in Louisiana could this be a new discovery?

Ok so I found this L variolus in northern louisiana but I can not find any research that says that L variolus is in Louisiana could this be a new discovery?

Also I found 4 specimens and 2 males 2 females I was able to catch the females but the males got away

Probably just Latrodectus matcans.

Yes but this is larger than L mactans juveniles and only L mactans juveniles carry the white stripes and this is the size of an adult L mactans also the hourglasses are different the hourglasses on the specimens I caught were disconnected while the hourglasses of L mactans are connected and I have never seen a adult L mactans like this

The maps indicate Variolus down to Louisiana but with logistics and climate change, their range areas can be shifting quite drastically in recent years. However, the pictured image could be either Mactans or Variolus.
