Yeah the damn autofocus is the crap when it comes to dealing with glass. I really want a DSLR one of these days but alas, $600+ aint exactly chump change. Some day a digital rebel will be mine!

All the herp pictures in this thread were taken with a non-SLR camera. Try experimenting with the macro and landscape modes. These both seem to correct the whole glass problem sometimes.

Must have messed up the focus pretty good. If it was the glass, the front or back pane should be sharp, but none of the picture is the least bit sharp. Where's the focal point...? If it was the camera's focusing, something should be sharp. Almost seems like you took a picture without it focusing at all (since the glass is really close and is OOF, and the back glass is fairly far and is OOF, and everything inbetween is OOF, seems like maybe it was focused closer to infinity)

Well it didnt seem like it wanted to decorate inside except for the white stuff ;) But it did seem a bit more sociable today so I *very* carefully got it to wobble onto my hand and have a sit while I snapped a few shots of its shiny new self. I think it might have preferred the warmth of my hand because it made no moves to go anywhere and I actually had to slide it back home it was so comfy. Its resting peacefully now and having a good stretch. :) I just have to practice more with the camera to make it look better next time. Lighting seems to affect the autofocus more than objects from what I'm seeing. Anyways, here it is now.

Wow, in this thread you complain about everything you can find, don't you all? That second picture is very good. When digital cameras have issues with AF, it's usually because you don't have a supernova nearby ready to light up your subject.

So cute! It reminds me of a newborn horse, still wobbely on its legs.

I have issues with my camera too! Either the pictures are so dark nothing is dicernable, or they are just bright flashes of white.

I was using a Konica/Minolta DiMage Z6 for those shots and when the lighting is right, it takes great close range photos. However people are right, unless one has a small star in the local vicinity, it fusses and misses the right range. Fuji's S5200 that I had once used a green spotlight to light up the target but even that was not so hot at close range. I guess CCD technology needs a little work in regards to low light situation.

same problem here. it takes me many minutes to just get two or three decent pix most of the time. my toying with the setting may have fixed it, though.

if my cancerides tried that, i'd certainly be schocked

None of that was complaining but simple observation.

I just use my phone to take my pics, it can be difficult lightig them at times cos the Ts dont appreciate having a bright light right in their eyes but I sometimes use night mode and get results.
I just wish they'd put manual focus option on them.
