Finally! I found the macro function on our camera...How did I ever live without it?!

C. fasciatum waving at me {D

G. auro sling

Avic. veri sling, gotto love their webs!

B. vagans

Recently molted G. auro male, has been named Stanley, after the annoying ex husband on the Golden Girls :D

G. rosea - I was trying to get a shot showing the lovely metallic purple caprace. Don't know why people think their boring, I rehoused it last night & it's already moved its water dish INTO it's hide {D

hey, nice pictures... I love doing macro work... dont you think its time to move that regalis into a larger home? maybe that avic too?? I dont know much of those species tho... so IDK.... I have found that clear plastic boxes (next to the glass jars) from Hobby Lobby work great for this size of sling... they are ultra clear, so you can get GREAT macro photos.

The P. regalis are 1/2" & everyone seems to say leave that size sling in the vials they come in. There is about 1/3rd of the vial not shown in the pic so I could compact the soil more, but i've noticed both slings had buried themselves slightly until a couple of days ago so I just let them do their thing.

The Avic. versi is 1" & it's web is about double the size of the sling. It's using about 1/3 of the floor space in it's container & is taking up very little room height wise. I was assuming since it's aboreal & juding by my juvie Avic. sp's behavior, it's not venturing very far from it's web.

I could be way wrong on all my assumptions though :)

well I guess that answers my question then.... I guess I wont dissagree. I just thought that one would more likely escape from a vial when its feeding time.... then again I am Dyslexic and completely bass ackwords in every way I can think of!!

Gwegowee, I thought that too actually. The regalis are the only slings i've left in their vials so far, everything else I have always removed to containers that I thought would allow for easy housekeeping.

For whatever reason, I decided this time to leave them in there. At feeding time all i've done is slide back the lid enough to pop in a prekilled pinhead cricket opposite of where the slings were sitting.

So far the only sling i've had get out was one of my 1/4" H. maculata slings when I popped open a vial I couldn't see into, which was prompty changed :)
