I just caught my 1.75 inch B. emilia not being a rock and actually digging around. Anyway she moved a layer of fiber and when she went back to the site, lo and behold! She found a cricket leg in her little ditch, and promptly scooped it up enthusiastically. I swear I hear her go "noice". So damn cute.

Anyone else have a funny story like this about their tarantulas? I think an underrated part of this hobby is just how funny these creatures can be.

My G. pulchripes had an identity crisis back in March and thought he was a sand spider, so instead of digging a burrow, he just buried himself right beneath the substrate. I dropped a mealworm in and he emerged like a demon and grabbed it. It was pretty cool to watch. He also ate four mealworms today. I gave him two this morning, then a few hours later he was back in hunting posture so I dropped two more worms in and he ate both again.
