Hullo there,

I've heard that Nhandu Chromatus' carapace darkens with age. Does anyone have any information or experience with this (how true this is; how common this is; to what degree it darkens; and at what age this might begin to happen)?
Many thanks,

Russel

I know they tend to become more vibrant and detailed with each molt. Instead of saying that they get darker I will say that their coloring becomes richer throughout their lifetime. Here is a pic of my N chromatus after a molt from about a month ago, and here is their most recent molt. You can see the abdomen got darker but the white on the legs and grey on carapace actually look lighter to me.

Either I've seen a lot of "enhanced" pictures or there really is that much variance in appearance between specimens (totally possible), but I can safely tell you I'm not sure what to expect. I really don't make many assumptions as to what they will look like after their next molt either. I've been ruined by Pamphobeteus and Aphonopelma bouncing all over the place.

Yep! I love em, gorgeous colours, always out, and great personality. Definitely one of my more entertaining T's to watch. I highly recommend them. Chroma, the Nhandu chromatus in the pictures, is always getting up to something crazy.
