I have read hundreds of web pages, various media etc but what I really would like is to hear from people that are actually keeping T's and have real life experience with them.
Any suggestions out there aside from the Smithi ?
If you want hardy and docile (though an individual can always have a temperament that defies the norm for its species), you can't go wrong with Euathlus, Grammostola, Brachypelma, or Aphonopelma.

That being said, I am a huge fan of Grammostola pulchra. I love their velvety black coloring, and they get to be a decent size.

If you don't mind something a little flightier, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens is a good choice. It is very hardy, has striking coloring at all stages, and makes interesting webs. I particularly like the tiger butts on the slings:

Last but not least, if you want a Hungry Hungry Hippo, Acanthoscurria geniculata is a lot of fun. My sling was already a fierce predator at 0.5" and seemed to have no idea of her tiny size.
