i was wondering if u guys know a way i can order a female king baboon. maybe u guys breed them or know a website that doesnt sell them for too much. also does anyone here know of any exotic pet trade shows coming to the bay area?
thanks for your help

AFAIK...it's difficult to impossible to find a MALE KB. Females are plentiful.
You should go to the Dealer review forum, to get a sense of the dealers out there. Buying online is probably cheaper (sometimes) then a pet store, but you can usually get the best deals at shows.
Welcome to the boards...and maybe another Cali person can tell you about local shows

The only dealer that regularly carries guaranteed females is John Hoke (www.e-spiderworld.com) but they are costly - almost $200. You can find private individuals from time to time selling them in the classifieds on this site and the classifieds on other sites (e.g. Petbugs, ATS, SpiderTalk), and occasionally dealers will have them but you're going to just have to bookmark things and hunt. You can also try posting a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the classifieds along with what sort of price you're looking to pay and see if anyone bites.

First, welcome to the hobby Second, You have a colbalt blue and an usambara baboon? As to becoming a breeder it is not as easy as that, no snapping of fingers. You should start by getting the Tarantula Keepers Guide by Schultz and Schultz and start reading. Husbandry is not an overnight class. From mating to eggs with leggs can take up to a year in some cases, with only a percentage of the offspring surviving. You have one of the hardest to breed and easiest to breed, if you don't know which is which start reading. If you are a novice than you should be extra careful with the cobalt and usambara, hopefully you know this. Go to www.atshq.org there you can find books and other helpful info.

Welcome to your addiction

To be fair you can learn more in less time with some books. There are alot of opinions on the forum and it will be trial and error for you right out of the gate. I would start with the Usambara the breed readily and will give you a good heads up on what to expect when breeding.

epi

sure go to www.irba.com and hit events, you can also print out a $1 off coupon wooohooo. I know that LLLreptile will be there and maybe reptile depot, but as for others not sure, I tried to email for a list of dealers, but it came back unable to send.
hope this helps
