Hi everyone, I'm from Michigan & I'm new to Ts...love to read all the postings & gather great info....I have a b smithi and a sling Pink Zebra Beauty.......I looked in on my baby this morning to see either a very fine webbing or what I thought could be mold! I freaked out a little bit and decided to do a substrate change to be on the safe side......thing is she's so tiny, I was afraid I'd hurt her......is there an easy way to do this? She's inside the pill bottle size container my breeder gave her to me in. I switched to a potting soil/vermiculite mixture which my b smithi loves. I'd appreciate any info....also, everyone seems to agree that one should not handle their Ts....we do it sometimes.....anyway, we've learned a lot & really enjoy the Ts

Mold is fuzzy, webbing looks different! If you WANT to change the substrate, just get the new container ready and gently nudge the little one into the new container.

I usually don't handle those under 1/2", they are way too fast for this old lady!!=D

Hi Joni and welcome to the forum!
I like to rehouse spiderlings using the bath tub, that way if they do a runner it is easier to catch them and there are fewer places for them to hide in the bathroom.

Hi Joni and welcome to the site:)

Sounds like your starting out with a couple of nice T's, but if you're like everyone else here, it won't be long before you have 10, then 20, then....well you get the picture.

About the over 40 club...as long as you all feel young at heart, that's all that matters. But looking 18, which I'm sure you all do, is a good thing too:}

Eh, sounds like uneaten cricket parts to me. I know most people do a complete substrate change. But I usually just take a q-tip and swap out the mold and the cricket leg under it.

Yeah, unless the mold is rampant, just picking it out should suffice. Keeping uneaten prey out helps prevent mold. After a while, it won't pop up as much anymore. It seems to balance out. I'm reluctant to change the soil unless there is a serious problem.

I get mold at times in my arboreal set-ups and in my sling vials. This is most of the time caused by left over cricket parts. I do what the the others mentioned and pick out the mold and the cricket part causing it.

Once I do this, the mold will stop. I have never had to change the substrate when doing this first.

Ahhhhh, fishing for free Ts!!!=D

Wow, this thread has been a real bonding experience for me... I never knew there were so many 40ish girls here. Probably because we all act like a bunch of kids.... no old ladies HERE!!!

The only thing that bothers me is it all started on a thread about mold......:(

Sorry Cooper, guess you missed the thread.... both of my breeding blondis died as a result of SHODDY PACKAGING for shipping.:(
