Hello Everyone

After watching many videos about how to care for jumping spiders I decided to get one myself. I bought it from a pet store and purchased the enclosure it was already in. While at the store I also inquired when it was fed last so I could try to keep it on a regular healthy feeding schedule. It was active and roaming around when I looked at it. I brought it home and placed it in a quite room by a window for light and try not to disturb to allow him/her a chance to settle in and only open the enclosure to give it a slight mist.

Now my concern is while I have owned it, he/she has stayed in one area and not ventured out ( at least to my knowledge). I have a cotton ball soaked in bottles water to offer water.

Is it's inactivity normal or have a done something wrong?

How long have you had it? Have you offered food? Can you share some pics of your spood & enclosure?

Cute enclosure, though I can't see your spider 😅 What species and size/age is it? Where in the enclosure is it hiding? I'm surprised it's not at the top.

If it's only been a couple days I wouldn't worry too much. It may be a little stressed from the move, it might be in premolt, it may literally just be chilling when you're watching but come out to explore when you walk away.

Do you know what species it is? Jumpers could go a while without eating. Monitor to see if it creates a web hammock near the top of the enclosure within the next few days.

Do not let the sunlight directly hit the enclosure.

It is a regal jumping spider according to the pet store. Unsure of his/her age. It's black with white spots and Brite blue fangs. It stay mostly on the fake plant they put in the enclosure which is a little Zilla spider enclosure. I have the box for it if you need to know more I'll gladly answer as best I can. I want to do my best for my new little friend.

He finally moved where I could get a picture of him

If it's a P regius that coloration would usually mean he's male. Would you be able to get a pic of his face?
Any spider can take some time to get acclimated to a new space. Does he react if you gently touch one of his legs with a paintbrush?
