my lps (exotics only) are going to a reptile expo and he assures me there will be many tarantulas so i asked him to grab me a p irmina just because redneck has said many good things about them :) so not it leaves me with giving it a home... i have a tank that opens from the top for tarantulas...but! i thought what about when i have to get to the bottom of the tank... so im investing in a locking front and top opening tanks its 12 x 12 x 18 like thishttp://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://lllreptile.com/load-image/StoreInventoryImage/image/3490&imgrefurl=http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptile-supplies/complete-cage-packages/-/exo-terra-small-rainforest-habitat-kit/&usg=__DgJsGlqxHoIMMvIYQON6jSN0OYQ=&h=450&w=380&sz=33&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=1vzzAcoIJSjL3M:&tbnh=166&tbnw=140&prev=/images%3Fq%3D12%2B12%2B18%2Bexo%2Bterra%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D651%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=365&ei=NemBTP_aIoO78gbF24yFBA&oei=NemBTP_aIoO78gbF24yFBA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=13&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0&tx=103&ty=90

I will say it can be used, but it's a ton of room for that size T. I currently have a P. cambridgei in the same size tank, but I also have a custom piece I made in there that takes up a lot of room.

Heres mine before I added the T:

And here's how much room the T (3") actually takes up:

Really it's a waste of space, but I feel bad leaving it empty & it's not hard to care for the T since it's made it's home in a smaller portion. Once my ornata gets bigger, that's going to be it's permanent home.

And yes, they are easy to care for. I don't do anything special for my P. cambridgei or P. reduncus.

It's pretty big for a 4", honestly (My nearly 7" L violaceoples lives in one and still has a LOT of space), but it will be ok to live in there until adulthood.
They tend to make tube web retreats though, so feeding it won't really be an issue, expecially if you tong feed. Even if not, I don't see these guys having much of an issue finding food in large quarters; I've kept slings in relativly large enclosures, and the food always found it's way near them no problem.

But why spend so much money if it doesn't need it now (or ever, perhaps)?

Here's how I keep my 4" irminia:

It's 12.5"x6"x6" and she has a LOT of room to play in. Just get one of those (or something similar), drill some holes, and save quite a bit.

They're defensive yeah, but are really hardy, so you'll have to try really hard to kill this one. You'll love it. Good luck!
