Finally happy with our new setup, 1st time scorpion owners awaiting 2 Pandinus Imperator on Tuesday. My wife and I have spent some time reading your posts and talking to the local bug zoo as to keeping our incoming scorpions happy. :)

20 gallon aquarium with glass top and hood light on timer to mimic daytime hours.

Substrate is a mix of peat soil and cocunut fibre.

Heat is from 2 uth 16w mounted on 2 sides of tank at left side. Warm side is 78f and cool side is 70f.

Multiple hides created such as 2 caves and bark coverage. Couple small rocks, spaghnum moss, bark, and twigs added for decor. Local wild cut blackberry bush clippings cleaned/debugged as per bug zoos recommendations for plant life.

Any feedback warmly welcomed as we are 1st timers with Arachnids. Thanks and we are happy to join the community. IMG_20191117_204023.jpg IMG_20191117_203910.jpg

That looks beautiful. Not sure if thorn are a great idea though; did you sterilize everything? Because if you didn't there may be a small chance there will be parasites. (Not likely though)

Thanks! Yes we did sterilize everything. We will keep an eye on them as to the thorns and if it becomes any problem they will be removed. Just gives it a nice backdrop and they grow easily from clipped branches.

That's good. Just worried it's belly might get ripped or scratched. :)

+1 on the worries about thorns. I would suggest clipping them off, as the time when they become the problem is the time its too late all too often.

Otherwise, it looks good!

Thanks,

Also don't feel personally offended if they decide they don't like your fancy premade borrow and completely trash your set up, knock over all of your decorations and make a new one.
