New green anoles!

And I lied about waiting a year before filling my 20 gallon anyways, I decide to get a trio of Green anoles for captive breeding purposes, since not enough work is done with these underrated animals, and I have a unique photo series to offer, a journey from the store to home.

Anyways here are the anoles at the store, its a mix of the Green Anoles and the Cuban Brown Anole. You can see one of the ones I bought, its the female of the cover. You can tell female green anoles from the males by a prominent white stripe down their back.

Now here they are in their take home container, I got two females, I will get a male later, but for now I think I will actually give them six months to a year of life free from male harassment.

And here they are being released into the enclosure, they need to be nudged out, however with in moments of being released they immediately started hunting down crickets. Well how do they look to your trained eyes?

Your Anoles look great! They're very lucky to have such an awesome set up for them as well. These little lizards are so very interesting to watch when they're setup in a proper habitat!

Well its that sad time of year so I decided to give my anole house a fall feel to it. I used oak and maple leaves, which are non toxic and actually have a high nutrient content so as they break down they will add good stuff to the soil. The anoles however dont seem to be impressed....

And finally the worm life is doing really well, they will also enjoy the leaves as they sneak up at night to eat them, they may also pull some into their burrow, this also helps with maintaining good soil quality.

(The anole with the "prolapse" turned out to be just fine it was nothing at all and she continues to rule her tank with an iron fist.*And has sucessfully laid two batches of eggs for a total of four. Which were either duds or she ate the babies.*)

I've seen the mix many times in stores, but are they ok mixed like that? I heard Cuban's are aggressive towards the green anoles, but I never mixed them to see.. Can they hybridize?

I used to keep a group of all females, the smallest female was actually the dominant one and always ate first. They LOVED live fruit flies, but I usually gave pinhead crickets and a waxworm once in a while (if you can make them moths they like those too). And for a treat peach baby food, in the wild they sometimes lick pollen from flowers. I have relatives in Florida who see them all the time. Do you dust the crickets?

Yours look great, usually in stores they are stick thin from improper diet and wrong lighting/heating or internal parasites.

Be careful of them trying to jump out of the tank, they will try and leap on your arm and then escape! I had this happen and they are a pain to catch.

I only have green anoles. The store pics were just that, pics of them in the store, it was ment to be a photo journal of their trip home.

And I too have heard they can be bossy towards others though I dont know for sure since I dont mix species. I dust the crix and also feed them those phoenix worms, which are stated to be rich in calcium. So far they are not to keen on fruit yet.
