Well, i am also jumping on the crested gecko band wagon and getting out of the arachnids, and today i picked up my first pair of cresties (also have one on the way, male olive). I ended up starting off with a male, which i thought was female for my olive, named him jewels, got home and discovered 'he' had 'jewels' so i went to take him back for exchange. BAD idea. I ended up with him, and another female.

I just couldn't return him. He is so docile and very very handleable. The female i picked up is very skittish though, and does not seem to like to be handled. I really like these guys, but man, i wish i would have picked up a cheaper new hobby lol. Not too big of a deal though because i plan on getting back what i spent when i sell of my tarantulas. I do need to find a forum though like this one where i do not have to shell out retail prices for my addiction.

I will throw up some pics of my new little lovelies when i get a chance :)

Nate, cool stuff! I'd love to get me some, but I don't have the room (or money).

Very nice, I looked at the crested's at petco, and they wanted $49.99 for them, and they only had two and they didn't look that cool looking. The two at the other pet store I looked at were $79.99 and they had two as well, and again, nothing special to look at. Ended up coming out with two collard lizards, and two anoles.

Nice! Interesting toes, all stubby like. What is their personality like and do they like affection/recognize their owners?

I bought both of mine at petsmart.... and they were a little more than 50.00.... maybe i should have went to petco lol....

They are fairly easy to keep it seems, and require fairly small area compared to many other reptiles. I have 2 small juveniles i am temporarely housing in a 5.5 setup, i am going to design something arboreal for them that is nice looking, and i am playing with the idea of live plants instead of silk.

I have an adult male on the way that i am going to be housing in something a bit bigger, gotta house him separately in something larger so he doesn't attack my juveniles :). I just need to find a decently priced adult female now that i want to cross with my olive, and then i will be done buying geckos for quite some time i think.

I really enjoy there ease of care, i think it was a good choice to replace my arachno-hobby with. The temperment seems to differ a great deal from individual to individual, my male is extremely friendly and opening the cage will result in having him stuck to your hand wanting some attention. My female however, is quite skittish and will shy away from being touched or bothered. I am going to let her settle in a bit more, and then gradually handle her and get her used to it. Figured if i give her a treat when she is handled, she may become more acustomed to it.

These really are neat little critters. I cannot wait until i sell more of my T's so i can pick up that female :). They are just as addictive, and possibly more expensive, than arachnids. I think in the long run i may enjoy them more because they have more personality and i can actually take them out around my kids and stuff.

Anyways, thanks for looking!

Their toes remind me a lot of a cat, its really odd. When they walk they curl their toes with the little claws up and then kinda roll them out, its weird to explain. They feel really smooth like velvet also.

The odd thing is that the tail is just like a giant toe and looks like it has one on the end. They curl it around your fingers while your holding them and it feels really odd. Its almost like a tentacle lol...

Cool. They are so cute and soooo tempting. Which Ts are you selling? I couldn't find anything listed by you. I'm interested. ;) You can always PM me.

If you like cresties, chances are you will go to the show with Ts, and leave with cresties. There are usually a few people selling a wide variety of patterns. It seems every month there are more and more cresties at the show.
