Hi y'all,

First of all I have no problem with my Ts, just a question.
I met a long-time breeder a few weeks back. We talked about parasite infections and he told me that the very first sign of infections is that the spider will catch a prey, then let it go and act like it's eating. You'll find that tarantula hours or days later with pedipalps under the mouth like it's eating the air. He also told me that at this point it's probably already too late for that specimen and maybe the whole collection

Have you ever noticed such a thing ? I think it's very interesting

I've heard similar things, actually. Difficulty eating or refusing to eat, signs of discomfort/ restlessness/ lethargy, trying to dip mouthparts in the water dish ,excessive grooming. And of course the gooey, whitish discharge around the mouth. There's still a lot we don't understand about the lifecycle of these parasites. Hopefully as more time goes on someone will find an effective treatment for it.

Nope, in the one case I've had in over 6 years of keeping the only symptoms observed were extreme Dyskinesia and whitish discharge from the mouthparts.
