Need spider i.d

A blackish-brown spider I found in my basement. It has 4 dots on top of it's abdomen. Sometimes I find them hanging in webs, other times they make a small web on the ground and wait under it.

No markings underneath.

The picture doesn't show enough of the right parts to be 100% sure of the species, but your spider closely resembles a male Steatoda borealis (Theridiidae), a common cobweb spider that finds its way into houses from time to time. Actually, I'm being cautious. I'm about 99% sure that's what you've got. :)

Those four marks on the top of the abdomen aren't dots. They're small depressions where internal muscles are attached on the inside of the abdomen.

That looks like it, females are usually fatter than the one I found. Thanks!
