My chromatus molted 3 days ago and is back to her original multicolored beauty. She really needed that molt, she was gettin' really homely!:D

Mine still looks like the "before" and I'm still waiting on the "after". I'm excited now for mine seeing your results!

Ahh, one of my favorites! Beautiful!!

Hmm.....just noticing though... Your girl has a black carapace, but mine has an ashy, light gray one. Is the black coloration a maturity thing?

That is a beautiful Chromatus SNAFU!
I am also curious at how different specimens of this species looks. I noticed that yours and the female that batest got from Anastasia has a darker carapace than mine has. You will notice that it looks the same during molting as it does now.

how big is your spider? Perhaps carapace darkens with age?

Mine looks pretty scruffy right now, but no sign of an impending molt.

You may be right about the age thing. Mine is about 3.5-4.0" But, it looks like SNAFU's T is around the same size judging by the comparison to the leaf and the marble I see in his picture...Of course I could be wrong about that. If I am, then mine should change by next molt. I will be very anxious to see if it's so...

BTW. I got mine from Patrick on 2/08, if anyone else got one from him at the same time from the same sac.

Are these decently docile?
I've heard that this species varies greatly in how docile they are. Mine attacks the water as I'm pouring it into her dish, runs to the side of her enclosure and "stares me down" if I get nearby, and goes after crickets with such speed and gusto that she regularly ends up with a mouth full of substrate in addition to the cricket. At the very LEAST, I'd say she's extremely skittish, yet not afraid of anything. Not exactly docile.
