I know this isn't a tarantula, but I was wondering if anybody would know what this spider might be. My brother found it in a warehouse in West Michigan. I'm thinking it looks like some kind of garden spider or orb weaver, but I can't seem to pin down the species.
Ooo, i think you're onto something here, but I'm thinking the striping pattern might be more consistent with its cousin, Argiope trifasciata. Do you agree, or do you agree, or was there something that lead you to the argentata, and you attribute the pattern to defect, or being young or freshly molted?
Could be? Looked more silvery to me in that pic, but I don't see the butt spikes there. I'd check to see which Argiopes are in your area. I see argentata and aurantia a lot where I live.
