Hello everyone, after months of reading all kinds of posts on this forum and doing all sorts or research I finally welcomed my new T to the family.

I got him or her from a local reptile shop that has just about every animal under the sun that does not have warm blood. It was a tough choice what species to get for my first T, I had it down to the T. Blondi, OBT, and the B. Albopilosum, I think I made the right choice LOL!

I attached the one picture I have of him/her and I'm hoping to sex him/her after its next molt. Its just a juvenile at the moment about the size of my palm so between 2-3 inches so has a lot more growing to do before it reaches full size.

I can post more photos if requested. :) Glad to finally be a part of this community.

Holy cow, you were thinking about the T. blondi and the OBT as your first? You would've had a horrible experience lol. Between the biggest spider on earth with extermely specific moisture requirements and huge fangs and awful urticating hairs, and the fast-as-lightning, highly venomous Old World with a bite more painful than a rattlesnake's, yeah I'd say you did make the right choice going with the albopilosum LOL

It was a ploy to get the rest of the family on board I told them here are the ones I'm looking at one the size of a dog, one that bites everything or a soft little fuzzy one. It worked LOL!

Nice, they are an awesome species, my first Tarantula was a 2" female B. albopilosum (Honduran/Hobby form), she's more than doubled in size since I got her back in June of last year. I picked up a Nicaraguan form sling as part of a mystery box a few weeks ago.

Enjoy.

Welcome to the addiction... Erm... I mean hobby

Yea man very nice I actually just got a juvenile female there recently roughly the same size as yours, was a bit irritated at first but this is only natural with exposure to a new environment but she's fine now and has had a crawl on my arms lol
