Did the ants really kill the mantis?
what about the coccoon? Those things are impenetrable!

What about the ootheca/cocoon? Is it still good? I pulled one off a plant last year. I fully expect them to hatch in the Spring.

I thought I had killed both of my Carolina Mantid Oothecas (plural?) But I kept them warm and misted... I cleaned my room the other day and discovered I had babies! Don't give up on your ootheca too soon!

i usta have a carolina mantis and sometimes the feeder crickets would start eating the freshly laid ootheca. but my mantis laid about 5 ooths. I just hope she mated before i captured her in the late fall.

I bet she did! What are you doing with the ooths now?
